Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A flaw exists in the Linux kernel's DRM/I915/GT subsystem related to timeline management during Virtual Memory Allocation (VMA) errors. Specifically, if VMA allocation fails during ring submission (triggered by signals interrupting
i915 vma instance()), the legacy timeline remains referenced and is not released upon driver unbind. This issue occurs during the DRM IOCTL I915 GEM EXECBUFFER2 IOCTL call and impacts ring context allocation (ring context alloc()). The problem does not appear to affect execlists or GuC submission methods.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
