Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A flaw exists in the netfs component of the Linux kernel where a netfs request may have its reference counted incorrectly, leading to a double put of the request. This occurs if a netfs request completes during a pause loop and then enters a final wait loop. The issue arises because the IN PROGRESS flag is cleared, and the collector is called again unnecessarily, resulting in the incorrect assumption that cleanup hasn't been performed.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
