CVE-2025-38487

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 6.15.0-rc1-00009-g926217bc7d7d
Description A flaw exists in the Linux kernel related to the aspeed lpc-snoop driver. Specifically, the driver does not prevent disabling channels that are not currently enabled, potentially leading to a kernel NULL pointer dereference. This can result in system instability, as demonstrated by kernel oops messages during testing.
Recommendations Linux kernel versions prior to 6.15.0-rc1-00009-g926217bc7d7d: Apply the fix by echoing '1e789080.lpc-snoop' to the /sys/bus/platform/drivers/aspeed-lpc-snoop/unbind path.
