Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
BlazeVideo HDTV Player Pro version 6.6.0.3
Description
BlazeVideo HDTV Player Pro version 6.6.0.3 is susceptible to a stack-based buffer overflow due to improper handling of user-supplied input within .plf playlist files. When processing a crafted .plf file, the
MediaPlayerCtrl.dll component utilizes PathFindFileNameA() to extract a filename from a URL-like string. The returned value is then copied into a fixed-size stack buffer using strcpy without boundary checks. If the input exceeds the buffer's capacity, a stack overflow occurs, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution within the user's context.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
