CVE-2024-56529

CVSS v3.1

7.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:H/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Mailcow versions through 2024-11b
Description The issue is related to a session fixation vulnerability in the web panel. It allows remote attackers to set a session identifier when HSTS is disabled on a victim's browser. After a user logs in, they are authenticated and the session identifier is valid. Then, a remote attacker can access the victim's web panel with the same session identifier. The application does not disable old session IDs, which allows a remote attacker to use existing IDs in the victim's browser.
Recommendations For Mailcow versions through 2024-11b, consider disabling the login functionality until a patch is available, or restrict access to the web panel to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, users can enable HSTS on their browsers to mitigate the risk. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
