Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: ComSndFTP FTP Server version 1.3.7 Beta
Description: ComSndFTP FTP Server version 1.3.7 Beta contains a format string vulnerability in its handling of the USER command. Sending a specially crafted username with format specifiers allows a remote attacker to overwrite a hardcoded function pointer in memory (specifically WSACleanup from Ws2 32.dll). This enables the attacker to redirect execution flow and bypass Data Execution Prevention (DEP) protections using a Return-Oriented Programming (ROP) chain, ultimately leading to arbitrary code execution. The vulnerability is exploitable without authentication and affects default configurations.
Recommendations: At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
