CVE-2024-56771

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A vulnerability has been resolved in the Linux kernel, specifically in the mtd: spinand: winbond component. The issue affects four Winbond flash chips: W25N512GW, W25N01GW, W25N01JW, and W25N02JW. These chips require a single bit of ECC strength and feature an on-die Hamming-like ECC engine. The main ECC status bytes are located in standard places, making it unnecessary to retrieve the number of bitflips in case of a corrected chunk. Without this change, a kernel warning triggers every time a bit flips.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
