CVE-2025-38626

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description: A flaw exists in the Linux kernel’s f2fs implementation related to foreground garbage collection during block allocation in LFS mode. When the file system is mounted with the “mode=lfs” option, a system panic can occur due to aggressive block allocation in f2fs map blocks(). The issue arises because foreground garbage collection is not triggered promptly, leading to out-of-space conditions when multiple threads perform write operations in parallel using AIO, DIO, or bufio methods. The fix introduces a mechanism to trigger foreground garbage collection prior to block allocation within the f2fs map blocks() function.
Recommendations: At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
