Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
The Linux kernel contains a flaw related to out-of-bounds write in the industrial I/O (IIO) subsystem. A buffer is allocated with a size of 20 characters. If a caller attempts to write more characters than the buffer can hold, the
count variable is truncated to the maximum available space. To prevent out-of-bounds access, a check is implemented to ensure the input size fits within the buffer, and a zero terminator is added after copying the data.Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
Exploit
Out of bounds Read
Memory Corruption
Buffer Overflow
