CVE-2024-57888

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue concerns a false positive warning in the Linux kernel when cancelling WQ MEM RECLAIM work from a !WQ MEM RECLAIM worker. This warning occurs after a specific commit and is related to the amdgpu driver. The warning is triggered by the check flush dependency function, which is intended to ensure forward progress during memory reclaim. However, when called from the cancel( delayed) work sync() paths, it is a false positive because the work is either already running or will not be running at all. The cancel delayed work sync function and amdgpu gfx off ctrl function are involved in this issue. The drm sched run job work function is also relevant.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
