CVE-2025-39691

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 6.16.0-862.14.0.6
Description A use-after-free issue exists in the Linux kernel's fs/buffer subsystem when calling the bh read() helper function. The issue occurs during NTFS3 filesystem mounting and involves a stack-out-of-bounds read in the end buffer read sync() function after unlocking a buffer head. Specifically, the stack variable map bh passed to ntfs get block vbo() may be reclaimed before being used, leading to a potential stack overrun when put bh() is called.
Recommendations Update to Linux kernel version 6.16.0-862.14.0.6 or later.
