| Vector | AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
The Linux kernel contains a flaw related to ACPI and APEI handling of synchronous memory errors. When abnormal synchronous errors occur (invalid PA, unexpected severity, no memory failure config support, invalid GUID section, etc.), a loop can be triggered, potentially exceeding platform firmware thresholds or causing a kernel hard lockup, leading to a system reboot. The issue arises because a memory failure() work is not queued in these scenarios, and the user-space process re-triggers a Synchronous External Abort (SEA).
Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
