Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description:
A vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel related to potential softlockups within the jbd2 journaling system. Specifically, the
jbd2 log do checkpoint() function could, under certain conditions, lead to a softlockup if functions called within its loop did not trigger rescheduling. This occurs because both jbd2 log do checkpoint() and jbd2 journal shrink checkpoint list() contend for the j list lock, and prolonged operations without rescheduling can cause the kernel to become unresponsive. The issue was observed on Huawei TaiShan 2280 hardware running kernel version 6.6.0+.Recommendations:
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
