Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A flaw exists in the Linux kernel's 9p protocol implementation where the reference count of a request is not properly initialized. Specifically, when a new request is allocated and reused, the refcount may be zero, leading to uninitialized usage. If
p9 read work receives a response before the refcount is initialized, it can result in the use of a bad request data structure. This can lead to memory corruption and potentially other issues.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
