Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
linux (affected versions not specified)
Description
A memory leak was identified in the Linux kernel related to the
vmw balloon module when using the debugfs lookup() function. The issue occurs because the result of debugfs lookup() requires a call to dput() to release memory; otherwise, a memory leak occurs over time. The resolution involves using debugfs lookup and remove() instead, which handles the necessary logic in a single operation.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
