CVE-2025-39816

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The Linux kernel contains an issue in the io uring/kbuf subsystem where buffer lengths are not consistently read. This is due to the use of potentially unstable reads of user-space mapped buffers. The issue is addressed by using READ ONCE() to ensure a stable read of the buffer length, preventing potential issues if the buffer changes during processing. Additionally, the commit loop now stops if a zero-sized buffer is encountered, preventing further progress.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
