Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel contains a flaw within the ext4 file system related to inode eviction. Specifically, in the
ext4 evict inode() function, a race condition can occur when evicting an inode in the 'no delete' path. This race condition may allow an inode to be marked dirty without a valid reference count, potentially leading to use-after-free issues during the writeback procedure. The issue is difficult to debug and was addressed by adding a warning message to detect the condition.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
