CVE-2023-53420

CVSS v3.1

7.1

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The Linux kernel contains a flaw in the ntfs listxattr() function within the NTFS file system implementation. A bug report from syzbot identified a slab-out-of-bounds read occurring in ntfs list ea and ntfs listxattr. The issue arises from incorrect logic during the iteration of extended attributes (ea), specifically when ea->name len is 0, leading to access of invalid memory in subsequent loop iterations.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
