CVE-2023-53447

CVSS v3.1

4.7

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A race condition exists within the f2fs filesystem implementation when remounting a read-write filesystem. Specifically, the issue arises because the f2fs remount() function resets mount options to their defaults before updating them based on parsed options, creating a window where a race condition can occur between the remount operation and a fallocate call. This race condition can lead to a null pointer dereference within the extent tree management functions, potentially resulting in a general protection fault. The vulnerability occurs when the READ EXTENT CACHE option is involved.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
