CVE-2025-0373

CVSS v2.0

8.0

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:P/I:P/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions FreeBSD (affected versions not specified)
Description The implementation of VOP VPTOFH() in the cd9660, tarfs, and ext2fs filesystems overflows the destination FID buffer by 4 bytes, causing a stack buffer overflow. A NFS server that exports one of these file systems can be made to panic by mounting and accessing the export with an NFS client. Further exploitation, such as bypassing file permission checking or remote kernel code execution, is potentially possible, though this has not been demonstrated. Release kernels are compiled with stack protection enabled, and some instances of the overflow are caught by this mechanism, causing a panic.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
