Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A flaw exists in the Linux kernel’s genetlink functionality where the
genl bind() function could invoke a bind callback even after permission checks failed, potentially allowing callbacks to run on behalf of unauthorized callers while the syscall still returned failure to user space. This issue stemmed from invoking the bind callback before verifying successful permission checks. The bind() callback was invoked even if capability checks failed and the return value was set to -EPERM.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
