Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel contained a memory leak in the
alloc wbufs() function within the UBIFS (Unsorted Block Image File System) component. The ubifs wbuf init() function could return an error during a loop, and in such cases, memory allocated for wbuf->buf and wbuf->inodes was not freed. This resulted in a memory leak. The issue was identified by kmemleak, which reported unreferenced objects in memory associated with the mount process. The backtrace indicates involvement of functions like kmalloc, ubifs mount, legacy get tree, vfs get tree, path mount, x64 sys mount, do syscall 64, and entry SYSCALL 64 after hwframe.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
