CVE-2023-53553

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the Linux kernel related to HID over Hyper-V. A previous attempt to address a fortified memcpy warning did not fully resolve the issue, and a warning persists with certain compiler versions (gcc-9). The root cause appears to be a potential struct memcpy overrun, triggered by a warning within the fortify memcpy chk function during the mousevsc on receive function call. The issue is related to a range check that may be misinterpreted by the compiler, leading to a warning about writing beyond the bounds of a field.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
