Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A use-after-free issue exists in the auxiliary device release callback within the Microchip clock driver. This occurs because the auxiliary device is not torn down in the correct order. If
auxiliary device add() fails, the release callback is called twice, leading to a use-after-free condition. The issue is similar to a previously resolved problem in the PECI CPU driver. Moving auxiliary device uninit() to the unregister callback resolves the problem.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
