Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.17.0-rc5-g201825fb4278
Description
The Linux kernel contained an issue where the
tcp sk(sk)->fastopen rsk was not cleared in the tcp disconnect() function. This could lead to a retransmit timer being triggered unexpectedly when a server-side TCP Fast Open socket was reused as a new client before the TFO socket completed the three-way handshake. This was reported by syzbot, which identified a situation where a socket in the TCP ESTABLISHED state caused a warning in tcp retransmit timer.Recommendations
Update to a version newer than 6.17.0-rc5-g201825fb4278.
