Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel contains a use-after-free issue within the mlx5 network component, specifically related to the release of flow counter hardware structures (HWS actions). This flaw occurs during the deletion of a flow table entry (fte) when the HWS action refcount and mutex are not properly initialized, potentially leading to a kernel trace and system instability if the counter struct is already freed. The issue is fixed by adding the missing initializations and refcount for the local flow counter struct.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
