Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel contains a flaw related to improper handling of device references, potentially leading to a use-after-free condition. Specifically, the issue arises from not correctly utilizing
dst dev rcu() in certain network-related functions. The functions icmpv4 xrlim allow(), ip defrag(), ipmr prepare xmit(), ipmr queue fwd xmit(), ip mr output(), and ipv4 neigh lookup() were modified to address this. A use-after-free condition occurs when a program attempts to access memory that has already been freed, which can lead to crashes or potentially allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
