Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A flaw exists in the Linux kernel’s SCSI subsystem, specifically within the pm80xx driver. The issue involves an array-index-out-of-bounds condition that occurs during the removal of a module (rmmod) when an expander is in use. The problem arises because the
attached phy variable, which represents the physical identifier, can exceed the bounds of the pm8001 ha->phy array when dealing with devices connected through an expander. This occurs because the pm8001 ha->phy array only contains the physical identifiers of the host bus adapter (HBA) and not those of the expander. The vulnerability was identified following a report from UBSAN (Undefined Behavior SANitizer) related to an out-of-bounds access in the pm8001 sas.c file.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
