CVE-2025-40198

CVSS v2.0

4.6

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the ext4 filesystem implementation within the Linux kernel. Specifically, the parse apply sb mount options() function may experience a buffer over-read due to insufficient validation of the s mount opts string. The function relies on tune2fs to ensure null termination of s mount opts, but does not adequately treat it as a potential non-string, leading to a potential issue.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
