Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel’s DAMON virtual address space operation set implementation (vaddr) contains a flaw related to the
pte offset map lock() function within the page table walk callback. Repeated calls to pte offset map lock() can occur if the target is a pmd migration entry, potentially leading to an infinite page table walk and a soft lockup, particularly when CPU hotplugging and DAMON are running concurrently. The issue arises because DAMON promises only best-effort accuracy, and missing access to pages during the walk does not pose a problem.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
