Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A flaw exists in the Linux kernel related to the LAN8814 network PHY. Specifically, the
shared->phydev pointer is not always initialized during the PTP probe, leading to a potential NULL pointer dereference when handling interrupts, particularly within the lan8814 gpio process cap function. This can cause a kernel crash. The issue arises because shared->phydev is unconditionally used even if it hasn't been set, resulting in the error.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
