CVE-2025-40240

CVSS v2.0

7.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the Linux kernel related to the Socket Communication Transport Protocol (SCTP). Specifically, a potential NULL dereference can occur when a chunk data buffer is missing. The issue arises from dereferencing the chunk->skb pointer in a block of code where it is expected to be NULL. The fix involves checking for a frag list before replacing chunk->skb, ensuring that chunk->skb is not NULL under certain conditions.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
