No severity ratings or metrics are available. When they are, we'll update the corresponding info on the page.
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel contains a flaw within the NFS daemon (NFSD) related to the handling of copynotify stateids. Specifically, the issue arises when a client reboots after establishing an OPEN session and sending a COPY NOTIFY request. This can lead to the premature freeing of copynotify stateids without properly releasing associated resources, resulting in list corruption during the laundromat process. This corruption can trigger a kernel panic, as evidenced by the 'Oops' message in the logs. The issue occurs when the parent stateid is freed without freeing the associated copynotify stateids.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
