CVE-2025-40278

None

No severity ratings or metrics are available. When they are, we'll update the corresponding info on the page.
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A kernel information leak issue was addressed in the Linux kernel related to the tc ife structure within the networking subsystem. The issue stemmed from partially initialized variables in the tcf ife dump() function, leading to uninitialized padding bytes being copied into netlink messages and potentially leaked to userspace. The fix involves initializing the tc ife structure with memset before assigning its fields, ensuring all members and padding are cleared. This prevents potential information disclosure from kernel memory. The fix was validated by syzbot.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
