Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
An issue exists in the Linux kernel related to out-of-bounds access when allocating config buffers within the regmap-irq functionality. Specifically, the allocation logic for a 2D array used for handling IRQ type registers incorrectly allocates memory, potentially leading to memory corruption. The problem arises from an incorrect loop condition during memory allocation, allocating memory based on the number of config registers instead of the number of config bases. This can lead to out-of-bounds writes when the number of config registers exceeds the number of config bases. A crash was reported on a db845c device, and KASAN detected invalid memory access during the
regmap add irq chip fwnode function.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
