Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.0.0-rc2-00283-g10d4879f9ef0-dirty
Description
The Linux kernel had an issue where port I/O string accessors, such as
insb and outsb, did not function correctly. These accessors used the physical PCI port I/O address instead of the corresponding memory mapping, leading to memory access faults. Specifically, the parport driver experienced issues accessing a PCIe parallel port, resulting in an "Unable to handle kernel access to user memory" error. The issue occurred due to incorrect address handling within the parport pc fifo write block pio function and related functions like parport pc compat write block pio, parport write, and lp write. The problem was addressed by adding PCI IOBASE to the physical address requested in the respective wrapper macros.Recommendations
Update to version 6.0.0-rc2-00283-g10d4879f9ef0-dirty or a later version to resolve this issue.
