Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel contains an issue related to the cleanup of Precision Time Protocol (PTP) resources when a driver is removed, particularly in error scenarios. The problem arises from missing calls to the
ice ptp cleanup pf function and the failure to deinitialize the 'ps lock' mutex, as well as the failure to unregister the PTP clock. This can lead to a call trace being dumped when the ice adapter object is freed, indicating a resource leak. The issue occurs during driver probe, PTP feature initialization, or PTP restart operations. The ice adapter put function is implicated in the reported error trace.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
