No severity ratings or metrics are available. When they are, we'll update the corresponding info on the page.
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description An issue was identified in the Linux kernel related to the ext4 filesystem. The problem involves incorrectly setting the goal start in the ext4 mb normalize request function. Specifically, the code needed to set ac g ex instead of ac f ex to properly notify the goal start used in ext4 mb find by goal. Additionally, a check was added to ensure the size is less than ar->pright to prevent passing an underflowed value to ext4 get group no and offset(), which could trigger a bug. The vulnerable function is ext4 mb normalize request.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
