Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.2.8 1
Description
The Linux kernel contained an issue within the TPM (Trusted Platform Module) subsystem. A crash could occur due to a missing invariant check during the unregistration of the hardware random number generator (hwrng). Specifically, the
tpm chip unregister() function lacked a check using !tpm amd is rng defective() before calling hwrng unregister(). This resulted in a kernel bug, indicated by a list deletion corruption and an invalid opcode error. The crash was observed on a system with a Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. B550M AORUS PRO-P motherboard and BIOS version F15c.Recommendations
Update to Linux kernel version 6.2.8 1 or later.
