Description
A flaw exists in the Linux kernel’s SMB client implementation related to session reference counting. Specifically, the code failed to properly increment session references using the
cifs smb ses inc refcount() helper function. This could lead to a use-after-free condition when releasing session resources, potentially causing system instability or allowing for malicious code execution. The issue involves incorrect handling of the dfs root ses pointer within the session structure (@ses).Recommendations
