CVE-2023-54121

CVSS v2.0

4.6

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The Linux kernel contains an issue within the btrfs file system related to incorrect splitting in the btrfs drop extent map range function. This can lead to invalid extent maps being inserted into the file system tree, potentially causing overlaps with other entries or incorrect block calculations. The issue arises when handling pinned extents during range dropping, specifically when calculating the length and start positions of split extents. The problem is most likely to occur during relocation, especially with auto-relocation enabled. The function btrfs drop extent map range is involved in this issue. The em end variable and the split->start and split->len variables are also involved.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
