CVE-2023-54220

None

No severity ratings or metrics are available. When they are, we'll update the corresponding info on the page.
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the Linux kernel’s serial component, specifically within the 8250 driver. Unloading a hardware-specific 8250 driver can lead to a kernel error, specifically an “Unable to handle kernel paging request” error occurring approximately ten seconds after the driver is unloaded. This issue arises from an incomplete fix in a previous commit and occurs when the port->pm function is not properly cleared during driver unloading, causing serial8250 pm() to incorrectly call port->pm() instead of serial8250 do pm(). The uart change pm() function and uart hangup() are involved in the sequence leading to the error.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
