ProfileGrid – User Profiles, Groups and Communities plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 5.9.4.2
Description
The issue allows authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access and above to make web requests to arbitrary locations originating from the web application. This can be used to download and view images, as well as validate if a non-image file exists, both on local or remote hosts. The
pm upload image function is used to exploit this issue.Recommendations
For ProfileGrid – User Profiles, Groups and Communities plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 5.9.4.2, update to a version higher than 5.9.4.2 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
pm upload image function until a patch is available.
Restrict access to the pm upload image function to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
