CVE-2024-12038

CVSS v3.1

6.4

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions BuddyForms plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 2.8.15
Description The BuddyForms plugin for WordPress is affected by a Stored Cross-Site Scripting issue due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the buddyforms nav shortcode. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 2.8.15, consider disabling the buddyforms nav shortcode until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to pages that utilize this shortcode to minimize the risk of arbitrary script execution. Update to a version later than 2.8.15 when available.
