CVSS v3.1
9.8
Critical
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Everest Forms – Contact Forms, Quiz, Survey, Newsletter & Payment Form Builder for WordPress versions 3.0.9.4 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to missing file type and path validation in the 'format' method of the EVF Form Fields Upload class, allowing unauthenticated attackers to upload, read, and delete arbitrary files on the affected site's server. This may lead to remote code execution, sensitive information disclosure, or a site takeover. Over 100,000 WordPress sites are potentially affected.
Recommendations
For versions 3.0.9.4 and earlier, update to a version later than 3.0.9.4 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the
EVF Form Fields Upload class or restricting access to the vulnerable format method until a patch is available. Avoid using the EVF Form Fields Upload class in the affected API endpoints until the issue is resolved.Fix
