CVE-2022-49605

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been resolved. The issue concerned the igc driver, which did not properly implement checks for PCIe link flaps or PCI bus errors, leading to potential NULL pointer dereferences. The vulnerability was caused by the removal of IGC REMOVED logic in the igc rd32/wr32() MMIO accessors. This logic is used to detect and handle 0xffffffff MMIO read returns from the device, which can occur due to PCIe link flaps or other PCI bus errors. The fix reinstates the IGC REMOVED checks and implements them similarly to the igb driver, by checking for the unlikely case of hw addr being NULL.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
