Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A vulnerability in the Linux kernel's HID core has been identified, related to the handling of Resolution Multipliers. The issue arises from an assumption in the
hid apply multiplier() function that every Resolution Multiplier control is contained in a Logical Collection. However, this assumption is incorrect, as the function may encounter a collection that is not a Logical Collection, potentially leading to errors. The vulnerability was initially reported in 2019 by the syzbot fuzzer and is associated with two errors in the HID core, one of which was previously fixed.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
