CVE-2025-21729

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A race condition exists between cancel hw scan and hw scan completion in the Linux kernel's wifi module, rtw89. The rtwdev->scanning flag is not protected by a mutex, allowing cancel hw scan to access the flag while hw scan completion unsets it, leading to a null-ptr-deref and use-after-free. This issue is resolved by moving the check condition to a location protected by a mutex.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
