Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions The Point Maker plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 0.1.6
Description The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the point maker shortcode. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages. The injected scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the injected page.
Recommendations For The Point Maker plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 0.1.6, consider disabling the point maker shortcode until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to pages that utilize the point maker shortcode to minimize the risk of script injection. Avoid using the point maker shortcode with user-supplied attributes until the issue is resolved.
