Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
The Point Maker plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 0.1.6
Description
The issue arises from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the
point maker shortcode. This allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages. The injected scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the injected page.Recommendations
For The Point Maker plugin for WordPress versions up to, and including, 0.1.6, consider disabling the
point maker shortcode until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to pages that utilize the point maker shortcode to minimize the risk of script injection. Avoid using the point maker shortcode with user-supplied attributes until the issue is resolved.Fix
