Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
A flaw exists in the Linux kernel related to swap address space management. A commit intended to mark the swap address space as read-only inadvertently introduced a potential for kernel panics under conditions of heavy memory pressure. Specifically, if
arch prepare to swap returns a failure, a kernel panic can occur during memory reclamation. The issue is triggered by the read-only swap address space and is associated with function calls including el1 abort, shrink folio list, and do page fault. Restoring the swap address space to a non-read-only state resolves the problem.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
